General in jailbreak by agents placed on retirement

Santo Domingo.- The Executive Branch Tuesday night put Police General Miguel Raul de la Cruz Reyna on retirement, just two days after agents under his command sprung a colleague from a jail cell in the San Francisco de Macoris courthouse (northeast).

De la Cruz’s retirement on “time in service” is contained in Decree issued on the Police Executive Board’s recommendation.

The now retired general’s justification for the agents’ actions drew swift rebuke from various sectors, which dubbed it a “jailbreak,” for which the 23 who took part were relieved of duty.
