Popular singer joins push against mine in Central Mountains

BONAO, Dominican Republic. – Hector Acosta "El Torito" Wednesday night became the latest personality to join the fight against mining in Loma Miranda, and revealed some details about the plans in the effort.
In press conference in his hometown nestled in the Central Mountains, the pop and merengue star announced a peaceful march against the planned mining at Loma Miranda for Tuesday September 18 and invited people to participate en masse.
"I am totally against this exploitation because it would rip out the blood and lungs from the populations of Bonao, La Vega and the country."
Acosta said the attitude of some local authorities concerned and surprised him, after he organize activities against violence and crime, but now don’t invite him to the meetings they conduct, "apparently angry with me because it was rumored that I was going to be candidate for senator, but they can rest easy since I will not, what I do is sing."
