Dom. Rep. ranks 8th at most risk from climate change

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic ranks 8th among 177 nations at most risk from the affects of climate change, says a study by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) released Thursday.
The USAID study says climate change begins to affect the country, and Haiti is the 6th most vulnerable.
In that regard, the Presidency’s Climate Change Office director Omar Ramirez said the government will spend more than 1% of the Budget to mitigate natural disasters resulting from climate change.
The USAID and The Nature Conservancy launched a media campaign to raise awareness among Dominicans on environmental conservation to prevent the effects of climate change.
