"This is another strange way of sending drugs abroad. Who tried it apparently thought the agents wouldn’t suspect there were some cans filled with cocaine in the apparent supermarket shopping. Shipments of this type to Spain are rare," said the Agency’s press official Roberto Lebron.

Investigators determined that of the at least 10 cans labeled ‘beans’ in the box with other products, including coffee and corn flakes, three were filled with a white powder identical to cocaine.

Lebron added that the drug’s recipient was Santiago Padilla, resident in Girona St. number 81, postal code 089009, Barcelona.

In the recent past the DNCE has seized drugs hidden in everything from fruits and vegetables, to mahogany furniture.
