Lawyer is strange link to Dominican Republic, New York cop killings

Santo Domingo.- The man suspected in the shooting death of a Police Col. amid protests at Santo Domingo State University (UASD) will reportedly surrender accompanied by his lawyer Elias Nicasio Javier, who gained fame in the case of Daniel Mirambeaux, accused New York City cop killer who allegedly committed suicide while in Police custody in the late 1980s.

The attorney, who’s also a relative of the accused, Wilson Javier Nicasio, asked the police to send agents to arrest the suspect at an unspecified location.

The host of the Z101.1FM radio program, Consuelo Despradel, contacted police spokesman Maximo Baez to arrange the surrender of the man accused of murdering Col. Julian Suarez on Tuesday.

Nicasio had unsuccesfully defended Mirambeaux against extradition to face charges in the 1988 killing of NYC policeman Michael Buczek in Upper Manhattan, but the accused allegedly jumped to his death from the third floor at Police Headquarers whenwhile being escorted to the airport.
