Official confirms battery charges against former Tourism Minister

Santo Domingo.- National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso confirmed Thursday that former Tourism Minister and cable TV mogul Frank Jorge Elías was escorted to her office from Las Americas International Airport, where he was about to board a flight to the U.S.

On Wednesday Jorge’s wife Sandra Kurda posted twitted a message to the prosecutor and numerous photos showing bruises to her face, allegedly caused by her husband.

Reynoso said after meeting with Kurda’s lawyer Plinio Pina, Interpol was notified in the even that Jorge tried to leave the country, adding that his arraignment on alleged domestic violence is slated for Friday morning.

Jorge, who denies the allegations, was about to board Jet Blue flight 1798 to Orlando, Florida yesterday.
