Nine provinces under flash flood warnings

Santo Domingo.- Flash flood warnings have been issued for the National District and nine other provinces, where the latest downpours could cause overflowing rivers and mudslides.

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued the alert for Monseñor Noel, San Pedro, Monte Plata, San Cristobal, Sanchez Ramirez, Azua, Santo Domingo, San José de Ocoa and Peravia.

Flooding from Thursday’s rains damaged 20 homes in Villa Mella due to rains on Wednesday afternoon.

It said residents in low-lying areas should be on the alert for official bulletins, and avert from crossing rivers and streams.

Meanwhile, the National Meteorology Office forecasts continuing downpours over the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Central Mountains and border area.
