Dominican gang member gets life in prison for mistaken murder
New York. – A judge in Boston’s Suffolk County Superior Court sentenced Dominican gang member Ricardo Arias, 19, to life in prison, convict for the September 3, 2011, murder of teenager Alex Sierra, 18.
A jury convicted Arias, a member of the notorious "Roslindale" gang, of first degree murder and illegal weapons possession in Sierra’s death.
Moreover the judge left the possibility of probation in the hands of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Supreme Court.
During the trial District Attorney Amy Galatis said Arias apparently mistook Sierra for a member of a rival gang, though the victim didn’t belong to any such group.
