Central Bank blames French printer for RD$2,000 bills it didn’t issue

Santo Domingo.- The Central Bank said Thursday that a French company that prints the country’s RD$2,000 bills will face legal action and pay damages for the fraudulent circulation.
Central Bank manager Ervin Novas said they are collaborating with the Justice Ministry’s investigation of moneychangers in Santo Domingo East, in which there’s been one arrest thus far.
In a press conference, the official said the RD$2,000 bills circulating in the country are stamped with 2013 are the "rejects" of the French company. He said162 bills have bee confiscated thus far, but noted that the authorities don’t know how many remain.
