Candidates cast doubts on ruling party internal polls

Santo Domingo.- With barely 7.17% of the votes counted, trouble starts to arise within the rank and file of Dominican Republic’s ruling PLD party, just two days after internal polls to elect 168 new members of the organization’s Central Committee.
PLD leader Ely Fernandez complained of the organizing committee’s tendency to announce winners without tallying100% of the votes cast.
He along with 99 other candidates signed a document demanding a 100% count of the votes and promised to deliver it Tuesday morning.
He said there are more than 200 men and women who competed who’re concerned that all votes won’t be counted. "We don’t want the process to stop at any time. We want to ensure that all ballots counted."
