Dominican Republic, Haiti to continue dialogue on February 3

Santo Domingo.– The official commissions of Dominican Republic and Haiti which talked on topics of mutual importance last January 7, will meet again on February 3.

According to Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo, the meeting will take place in Jimani, in Independencia province, on the border that separates the two nations on Hispaniola.

Montalvo told reporters that presidents Danilo Medina and Michel Martelly are not programmed to attend.

At the previous encounter, Haiti asked the Dominican Republic to create alternative mechanisms in order to solve the statelessness of Dominicans of Haitian descent prompted by the Dominican Constitutional Court ruling.
