Opposition party starts to register hopefuls for elected posts

Santo Domingo.- The Convention organizers of Dominican Republic’s major opposition party (PRD) started to register candidates on Thursday, with several mayors and those seeking other posts immediately doing so.
Speaking at PRD headquarters, Commission president Julio Maríñez said those seeking national posts can register for only one district, and will be open until February 15.
He said the candidates must pay 75,000 pesos to register, must be rank and file, have proof of good conduct and submit to an anti-doping test carried out by a recognized lab.
