Dominican, U.S. agents arrest man with nearly half-a-million dollars

Santo Domingo.- Antinarcotics (DNCD) agents and Justice Ministry officials in cooperation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) arrested a man with 499,440 dollars in cash, inside a Porsche Cayenne SUV.

The DNCD said the money seized during a raid in the capital’s Villa Consuelo sector comes from drug trafficking, and the detainee, who wasn’t identified, lives in the upscale Naco sector.It said the suspect was detained after the agents stopped the 2014 Porsche.

"Hard intelligence and investigation preceded the subject’s arrest, who was carrying the high amount of dollars inside two packages,” the DNCD said in a statement, adding that several credit and debit cards, two cell phones, a Glock pistol, a clip, and ammo were also seized.

In addition, several deposit receipts for tens of thousands of dollars and withdrawals of hundreds of thousands of Dominican pesos in various banks.
