Dominican-born NY Senator courts the local political honchos

Santo Domingo.- Former president Hipolito Mejia on Monday became the latest local political figure to be visited by Dominican-born New York State senator Adriano Espaillat, in his bid for a seat in the U.S. Congress for New York’s13th district.

The New York lawmaker also visited minority PRSC party president Federico Antun, opposition PRD party president Miguel Vargas, and president Danilo Medina prior to that.

Espaillat’s bid to unseat veteran congressman Charges Rangel has gathered steam leading up to the Democratic Party convention slated for June 24.

Mejía reiterated his call to all Dominican voters in New York to cast their ballot for Espaillat.
