Dominican Republic’s 2nd city warns of water crunch

Santiago.- Faced with a water shortage from a drought and the growing demand from the Summer heat that affects the population, Santiago Water Utility (Coraasan) urged users to cut back on consumption as much as possible and avoid waste.

Coraasan said despite forecasts of rain, it hasn’t materialized not occurred, while the level of the Tavera-Bao dam is still very low, with reduced capacity of purification to meet the population’s demanded.

The Utility joins Santo Domingo’s counterpart which issued the same warning last week, of rationing water, "until such a time as Mother Nature supplies us the rain that gives us an adequate level of the dams."
