Key tourist road ready by December: Public Works

Uvero Alto, Dominican Republic.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo on Sunday announced accelerated work in the second phase of the Uvero Alto-Miches highway construction, expected to be ready as scheduled for December.

Crews of the contractor Odebrecht-Sinercon work in the remaining 19-kilometer stretch of the 72-kilometer road from El Cedro to Miches township, after having finished the first 54 kilometers from Uvero Alto on August 19.

In a statement, Castillo said president Danilo Medina will open the Uvero Alto-Miches Road in December, while the Miches-Sabana de la Mar span of 40 kilometers is expected to be finished by mid 2015.

The road from Bavaro to Sabana de la Mar totals 112 kilometers.
