Easter weekend: 24 deaths in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic authorities on Sunday reported 24 deaths in the third day of Easter Week operations, though the figure is expected to climb.

According to Emergency Operations Center (COE) director Juan Manuel Mendez, 20 people died in traffic accidents involving eight motorcycles and six vehicles in as many collisions, and four drowned.

The death toll thus far is lower than in Easter last year, with 29 during the same period.

The official said the fewer deaths stem from citizens’ good behavior.
