Environment agents to patrol rivers, forests to enforce bans

Santo Domingo.- The Environment Ministry has reinforcedpatrols along the major rivers and forests to ensure enforcement of the ban onextraction of aggregates and logging as the drought continues across thecountry.

The measure bans theextraction of construction materials from riverbeds and their banks, Environmentsaid in a statement.

It said among the riverswith priority patrols figure the Yubaso, Yuna, Yaque del Norte, Nizao, Haina,Fula, Jatubey, Masipedro, Yuboa and Jima.

Moreover, Environmentprovincial personnel would be mobilized and prepared to prevent forest fires inretaliation against the decisions of the authorities.
