President Medina, Miguel Vargas to seal alliance on Monday, PRD reports

Santo Domingo.– OppositionDominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) reported Friday afternoon that the alliancewith ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) will be officially sealed onMonday for next year´s polls, in a ceremony where Dominican President DaniloMedina and PRD president Miguel Vargas Maldonado will intervene.

According to elnuevodiario.com.do, the event where the PLD-PRDalliance will be announced is scheduled for 5:00 pm at the Gran Teatro LaFiesta of Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino.

The event will also be attended by members of PRD’s PoliticalCommission, members of the Political Committee and the Central Committee of PLD,as well as senators, deputies and mayors of both parties.

During a televised speech last June 15, Vargas said in viewof a dispersed political opposition he accepted Medina’s proposal to forge aNational Unity Government, and pointed out that the deal with Medina is basedon a national project to transform, modernize and enact public policies topromote social inclusion for all Dominicans.
