More entities join the fight on dengue as deaths reach 100

Santo Domingo.- TheDominican Medical Association (CMD) and the Private Clinics Association (Andeclip)on Monday joined the Public Health Ministry´s fight to prevent and control dengue,expanding the measures thus far underway.

"Today we begina new stage for further strengthen the measures of attention, both at the levelof medical personnel, such as nurses and in this process we have these twoentities at 100 percent," said Health minister Altagracia Guzman.

The official stressedthe Government´s efforts to prevent the spread of the disease which threatens theDominican population. She said the joint visits to health centers start today,which were planned as follow up measures. "We´re doing everythingpossible. We´re committed to reversing this trend and act with the utmostresponsibility which the situation demands."

Guzman, in a press conference at the National Palace, said among theefforts figure establishing spaces in hospitals to focus attention on those sickenedby dengue, and obtaining the support of several public and private entities.

Local media report atleast 100 fatalities since the outbreaks began earlier this year.
