One dead, 39 hurt as buses crash in east region(Update)

Santo Domingo.- One of the 39passengers hurt in the 2-bus crash near Higuey (east) died near noon Friday,local media report.

The buses loaded with hotelworkers collided on the Punta Cana- Bavaro road.

FILE: The MetropolitanTransit Authority (AMET) on Friday said at least 20 people were hurt when twobuses collided at Cruce del Isleño, on the Punta Cana-Bavaro road, easternAltagracia province.

AMET spokesman DiegoPesqueira tweeted that there have been no reported deaths thus far.

He said a 54 passenger Hyundaibus collided with a 34-seater Toyota, both of which carried mostly workers in hotelsin the sprawling resort region.
