Dominican agencies wage war on mosquito-borne ailments

Santo Domingo.- The NationalCommittee on Dengue met Wednesday to coordinate the fight against dengue, zika andchikungunya, the diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

In the meeting attendedby government commission representatives Health minister Altagracia Guzman andthe officials reviewed the actions carried out to lower the dengue cases acrossthe country.

She said theCommittee´s aims to lower the alert levels from red to green in all provinces,noting that most are on heightened alert this week.

Guzman said theauthorities might resume the "Together against dengue" campaign, whichwas held across the country a few weeks ago.

She reiterated theHealth Ministry´s call to the population to rid mosquito breeding sites andcover water tanks, chlorinate stored water, among other measures to combat themosquito.
