President’s surprise visits to take place Fridays

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina will make surprise visits on Fridays, and the first ones took place yesterday when he toured the poorest communities of the country’s southern region, where he agreed to implement productive projects to improve the lives of its inhabitants.

Via his Twitter account, Administrative Presidency Minister José Ramón Peralta, who accompanied the Dominican leader, said that from now on Medina will only make surprise visits on Fridays.

In the first visit, Danilo met with farmers and women working in fish farming in El Salado village, in Galvan, Bahoruco province.

After listening to the problems the agricultural producers face due to the lack of water to irrigate their crops, the head of state ordered the drilling of several wells.

To revive the economy in El Salado, Medina promised to support the women through a fish project. Among other works the government will carry on in this impoverished community, the president mention the expansion of basic school.

After leaving El Salado, Medina and the officials accompanying him visited Batey Dos, also in the Bahoruco province, where they met with representatives of the community.
