Ex-CIA agent smuggled guns to execute Dominican tyrant dies at 96

Santo Domingo.- Former US agent Lorenzo D. Berry (Wimpy),who was the key link between the CIA and the executioners of the tyrant RafaelLeonidas Trujillo, died in Miami, Florida Thursday, at the age of 96.
The death of the man credited with smuggling the equipmentinto the country with which the conspirators killed Trujillo on May 30, 1961,was disclosed by his sons Lorenzo (Lonnie) and Jeffrey Berry, published innewspaper Listin Diario.
Berry, who opened in the upscale sector of Gazcue thecountry’s first supermarket with the same name, used it to smuggle the weaponssent by the US government.
The US government was actively involved in the plot toassassinate Trujillo, as declassified CIA documents confirm.
