The President won’t talk to doctors regardless of walkouts

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Wednesday escalated the war of words betweenthe government and the Dominican Doctors Association (CMD), affirming that he wouldn’tmeet with them to avert the
"They started badly" Medina said when asked aboutthe doctors’ attitude with their now weekly strikes across the country.
He stressed he wouldn’t meet with the CMD leadership aslong as they maintain their position.
Medina, speaking at a meeting with editors/in/chief of themajor newspapers, said even if doctors stage walkouts at the hospitals, he won’tgive in to their demands, noting the 30% wage increase given to physicians of publichospitals last year.
