U.S. Embassy in Dominican Republic clarifies USAID director’s comments

Santo Domingo.- The U.S. Embassy on Saturday clarified the comments made on March 2 by US Agency for International Development (USAID) director in the Dominican Republic, Alexandria L. Panehal, during the official launch of the LGBT Chamber of Commerce in the country.
According to an emailed statement sent by the U.S. Embassy’s Public Affairs Section, the U.S. Embassy reiterates that the Government of the United States does not fund any political party or any candidate in the current election process, neither in the Dominican Republic nor anywhere else in the world. "Any report stating the contrary is incorrect," the note pointed out.
