Dominican LGBT demand the continent guarantee their rights

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s LGBT Coalition onMonday demanded from Organization of American States (OAS) member nations strongproposals to reduce discrimination in the continent, and that guarantee humanrights.

Coalition coordinator David Ventura asked a halt of tortureagainst LGBT people, affirming that cases of threats are on the rise.

"We’re going to demand it in this (OAS) Assembly andall meetings, because nobody, no church will prevent groups from upholding thehuman rights of women, migrants and LGBT, to speak out because that’s ourright, and we’re not afraid,” Ventura said, noting that the church wants to condemninto living as a recluse with “mechanism of discrimination.”
