Political opposition pulls out of talks on ruling party’s ‘sabotage’

Santo Domingo.- Most of the opposition parties on Mondayannounced their pullout from the political dialogue, arguing that the ruling party(PLD) promotes Central Electoral Board president Roberto Rosario’s continuancein the post.

"The PLD is behind the registration in the Senate ofRoberto Rosario and current members of the JCE and the Electoral Tribunal.Under these conditions we withdraw from the dialogue and we accuse the PLD of sabotagingit," the parties say in a document.

Among the initiatives which the dialogue aims to address figurethe proposed legislation on political parties and funding for electoral campaigns.
