Workers at power plant of scandal demand payment again

Prior protest

Santo Domingo.- Workers of the Punta Catalina power plant met Thursday with Labor Minister Winston Santos and union leaders to demand that the Estrella-Tecnimont-Odebrecht consortium pay their bonus, which the company refuses.

After interrupting the National Salary Committee meeting a commission of 10 workers met with Santos and agreed to wait three days for the official to inform president Danilo Medina to seek a solution.

Punta Catalina Workers’ Union secretary, Jhonatan Báez, said more than 7,000 employees are affected and warned that if there’s no satisfactory response they’ll resume the protests, the third in two weeks. “Odebrecht is not going to keep the sweat of the workers, we do not have an agreement, we will demand it as they wish.”
