David Ortiz shooting ‘moneyman’ caught trying to reach Puerto Rico

Santo Domingo.- The National Police on Fri. reported the arrest of Alberto Rodríguez Mota, who was captured by the Dominican Navy near the coast of Samaná, trying to reach Puerto Rico. He’s the second suspect linked to the shooting of David Ortiz today, after the capture of the alleged mastermind, Víctor Hugo Gómez Vásquez.

Rodríguez Mota was identified by the Justice Ministry and the National Police as the person who “possibly would have paid” to carry out the attack on Ortiz.

Local media reported the arrest of Gómez in Santo Domingo Oeste.

The attack occurred on June 9 in a bar in the Eastern Zone, where the authorities say the target was in fact, Sixto David Fernández, a friend of the player who was also in the bar.

In custody thus far figure Rolfi Ferreras Cruz or Ramón Martínez Pérez, the admitted gunman as well as Oliver Moisés Mirabal, Eddy Vladimir Féliz García (El Nata), Joel Rodríguez de la Cruz ( Calamardo), Porfirio Ayendi Dechamps Vásquez (Nene), Gabriel Alexander Pérez Vizcaíno (Hueso), Reynaldo Rodríguez Valenzuela, Lanny Estefanny Pérez Reyes, José Eduardo Ciprián (Chuki) and Carlos Rafael Álvarez (Carlos Nike).

Luis Rivas Clase (The Surgeon) is still at large.

The National Police said it will provide more details shortly.
