Ruling party leader pulls out of ‘unequal’ race, reveals rift

Santo Domingo.- Carlos Amarante Baret, presidential candidate of the Dominican ruling party (PLD), on Thursday said that faced with “the internal inequalities that are verified in the race for the presidential candidacy, he withdraws his aspirations to head the political organization’s ballot to the 2020 election.”
He noted, however, that he will continue wagering on the values that he has defended throughout his life and that he has developed in the last 15 months of traveling throughout the country.
Amarante based his decision “on the fact that in the PLD a great internal inequality has been created in recent times, basically in the organizational and financial aspects.”
