Dominican diplomatic staff return from Venezuela

Santo Domingo.- A group of 15 individuals from the diplomatic staff and employees of the Dominican Republic embassy in Venezuela returned to the country on Tuesday, arriving at Las Américas International Airport. This followed a request by the Venezuelan government, led by Nicolás Maduro, for their withdrawal due to alleged interference in the recent electoral process.

The group arrived in two batches: six people arrived during the day, and nine arrived in the evening, all on a commercial flight operated by SkyHigh Airlines.

They were received at the airport by José Julio Gómez, Vice Minister of Bilateral Foreign Affairs, and Opinio Díaz, Vice Minister for Consular and Migration Affairs.

Jerjes Suriel, the Dominican Republic’s chargé d’affaires in Venezuela, expressed his relief upon returning, stating, “In complicated situations, one always harbors fears; that is natural. However, we were always confident that our authorities would support us, as has happened.”

Good waste of money. Use that money for education roads and scholarships for the Dominican people.
