Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester sworn in as new Director of Migration
Santo Domingo.- Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, officially appointed Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester as the new Director of Migration, following his designation by President Luis Abinader under Decree 560-24. During the ceremony, Lee Ballester emphasized his commitment to upholding the Constitution and the Migration Law while ensuring close collaboration with military, police, and legal institutions. He also vowed to promote transparency, aligning with President Abinader’s directives.
Outgoing director Venancio Alcántara expressed gratitude to President Abinader for allowing him to lead such a critical institution for national security, often monitored by international organizations.
Vice Admiral Lee Ballester, a distinguished graduate of the Naval Academy, has extensive experience in border security, citizen safety, and maritime regulations, making him well-suited to manage the country’s migration policies.
Will he be competent and actually do his job, or is he just looking for an appealing salary and position?
He may be competent. Yet, his history is vague about how his credentials enable him to fill the immigration position.
