Water service interruption announced for Santo Domingo West

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the Santo Domingo Water and Sewer Corporation (CAASD) announced a temporary interruption of the drinking water service at the intersection of 27 de Febrero and Isabel Aguiar avenues in Santo Domingo Oeste. This disruption, part of a joint infrastructure project, will impact multiple sectors starting Wednesday, October 2, and is expected to last until Tuesday, October 9.

The project involves installing a 60-inch pipeline to improve water supply and alleviate traffic congestion at key intersections, including 27 de Febrero, Isabel Aguiar, and Luperón avenues. MOPC’s Vice Minister of Inspection, Roberto Herrera, emphasized the importance of these upgrades and noted that the work is proceeding on schedule. As a contingency plan, CAASD will deploy a fleet of 150 tanker trucks to supply affected areas.

The impacted sectors include El Café de Herrera, Ensanche Altagracia, Herrera Industrial Zone, and several residential neighborhoods. Authorities from MOPC and CAASD have asked for public understanding and assured that efforts are being made to minimize disruptions. The project is being coordinated with the National Institute of Transit and Land Transport (Intrant) and Digesett to manage traffic during construction.
