COE warns of dangerous waves along Dominican coasts

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued a warning on Monday about abnormal waves along the Dominican Republic’s coasts due to strong winds. This condition is expected to persist for 48 to 72 hours, prompting safety advisories for vessel operators.
The COE recommends that operators of fragile, small, and medium-sized vessels remain in port from Cabo San Rafael (La Altagracia) to Cabo Cabrón (Samaná). Similarly, on the Caribbean coast, from Beata Island (Pedernales) to Playa San Rafael (Barahona), vessels are advised to stay docked due to dangerous waves.
For other coastal areas, operators are urged to navigate cautiously near the shoreline and avoid venturing into open waters. The COE emphasizes the importance of adhering to these precautions to ensure safety during this period of heightened maritime risk.
This is a warning to all tourists and public. Don’t get “tanked up” at a resort beach and escape the heat by drunkenly attempting to cool down by swimming in the high surf.
