Domínguez Brito: Trump’s Paris Agreement withdrawal puts Dominican Republic at risk
Santo Domingo, DR.- Francisco Domínguez Brito, former Environment Minister of the Dominican Republic, expressed concern over former U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, calling it a troubling setback for global efforts to combat climate change. He emphasized that this move puts vulnerable countries, like the Dominican Republic, at even greater risk.
Domínguez Brito highlighted the Dominican Republic’s vulnerability to climate change, ranking among the ten most affected nations. Rising sea levels, more severe hurricanes, and prolonged droughts threaten the country’s economy, food security, and communities, particularly those dependent on beach tourism and living near rivers prone to flooding.
He urged stronger environmental policies and international cooperation to address climate change. Domínguez Brito called for urgent action to protect forests, rivers, and coastlines, stressing that the costs of inaction will only rise. He concluded by emphasizing the shared responsibility of nations to reduce environmental impacts and safeguard natural resources for future generations.
this guy’s such a tool
The dominican government still has not understood that the US is doing what’s best FOR THE US… so instead of following them blindly or bowing down to Trump, the government must do what’s best FOR THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.
Thankfully Donald Trump has also decided to cancell birthrite citizenship in the USA. Maybe he will follow the Dominican’s example and also backdate it retroactively to1929. Let the mass deportations back to the DR begin.. 15000 a week is a great start .God bless Donald Trump
I hope Mr. Brito shows us at least 2 things done during the last 4 years towards climate change. With all that money, they can clean the planet twice, and nop nada!
