Abinader urges immediate humanitarian aid for Haiti
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader has called for the urgent reestablishment of humanitarian aid to Haiti to prevent the worsening crisis in the neighboring country. Speaking at a press conference at the National Palace alongside U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Abinader warned that the situation poses a “threat to the region” and stressed that “there is no time to lose.”
The president criticized the inaction of some countries, stating that many are “watching passively from the sidelines” without taking responsibility for the crisis. He emphasized that both the United States and the Dominican Republic recognize their duty to act decisively.
Abinader reaffirmed the Dominican government’s commitment to collaborating with the international community in delivering aid but insisted that a coordinated, global effort is essential to prevent further instability in Haiti.
