Guillermo Moreno calls for protection of Dominican immigrants’ rights in the U.S.

Santo Domingo.- Dr. Guillermo Moreno, president of the Alianza País party, called on Dominican authorities to take a stronger stance in defending the rights of undocumented Dominicans in the United States. He emphasized the need for consular services to provide necessary protection and assistance, ensuring that immigration laws are enforced with respect for human rights.

Moreno acknowledged the U.S.’s right to enforce its immigration policies but stressed that Dominican immigrants, many of whom left due to economic hardship, should not be treated as criminals. He urged the government to advocate for their acquired rights and work to prevent unjust deportations.

Additionally, he called for the development of a comprehensive policy to support the Dominican diaspora, including legal and consular aid for those facing deportation. Moreno concluded by emphasizing the need for proactive measures to protect Dominicans abroad and safeguard their contributions to both their host and home countries.
