The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) in Virginia has requested Interpol’s assistance to expand the search for Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old American tourist who went missing in Punta Cana on March 6. Authorities have asked Interpol to issue a Yellow Notice, an international alert for locating missing persons in vulnerable situations.

Konanki was staying at a hotel in the eastern Dominican Republic and was reported missing last Friday. She had arrived on March 3 with friends, prompting an immediate search operation by Dominican authorities upon learning of her disappearance.

The search effort includes multiple agencies, such as the National Police, Central Investigation Directorate (Dicrim), Tourist Police (Politur), Dominican Navy, and Air Force. Civil Defense and the Fire Department are also involved, focusing on areas including Uvero Alto-Macao, Macao-Playa Arena Gorda, and Cortecito-Playa Arena Gorda.

Could be kidnapped and trafficked

She’s on an island with law enforcement at every airport, port and other means of egress actively looking for her with photo in-hand. Whether of her own free will or not, I can’t see her getting on a JetBlue flight or a ship and showing up in another country. Guess though they had to do it (put up the Notice). Hope she’s found alive and well…
