Abinader vows government will respect legal process in Jet Set collapse case

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader has pledged that his government will fully respect the legal proceedings following the tragic roof collapse at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, which has claimed 231 lives and left the nation in mourning.
Speaking during La Semanal con la Prensa, Abinader emphasized his administration’s commitment to justice, stating that the investigation will remain free from government interference. He assured that the Public Prosecutor’s Office will lead a thorough and independent inquiry, and that victims will receive the justice they deserve.
The tragedy occurred last Tuesday during a performance by merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who also died in the incident. Most victims died instantly due to severe head or chest trauma. Over 180 people were injured. To uncover the causes, the government has assembled a team of national and international experts to investigate what happened, why it happened, and how it happened.
The legal process will take years and yield very little to compensate the loss of lives or injuries suffered.
