President Abinader vows justice in El Tanque massacre
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader declared on Monday that the recent killing of five alleged criminals at a drug detention center in El Tanque, Loma de Cabrera (Dajabón province), will not go unpunished. He emphasized that authorities are actively investigating the case as part of the government’s broader commitment to strengthening citizen security. Despite the country’s relatively low homicide rate in the region, Abinader reaffirmed that even one violent death is unacceptable.
The president noted that the government reviews such incidents weekly through a dedicated task force focused on public safety. In addition, he announced that meetings are being scheduled between government officials and representatives of former presidents to create a shared agenda for the upcoming Economic and Social Council (CES), including discussions on continuing bilateral dialogue.
