Prosecutor’s Office begins investigation into trafficking of illegal immigrants

Luperón — The Public Prosecutor’s Office in this judicial district is investigating the director of the district board of Belloso, Isaac Reynoso Brito (Nito), for possible involvement in the trafficking of undocumented Haitians in Belloso in the municipality of Luperón.

The investigations are in charge of the deputy prosecutor, Carmelina Reyes, who did not offer information about the Puerto Plata prosecutor’s office’s investigative process.

The Belloso district official had an altercation last Monday with members of a National Army patrol in Imbert, who went to one of Brito’s banana farms to carry out an immigration operation because he allegedly had a hundred illegal Haitians working for him.
Reynoso Brito prevented the military from accessing his farm, which is why he is now being investigated.
