Former president joins UN sustainable development initiative
Santo Domingo.- Former president Leonel Fernandez will join the Sustainable Development Network Leadership Council (SDSN), an initiative by UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, to help solve global problems, EFE reports.
Fernandez, who heads the Global Democracy and Development Foundation (Funglode), was invited to join the SDSN as special adviser to the UN’s anti-poverty measures, or the Global Millennium Development Goals.
In a statement, Funglode said the Network Leadership Council gathers prominent international figures and meets twice a year to "promote innovative initiatives for sustainable global development."
