Ogando also chasing the Olympic dream in Paris
Alexander Ogando revives his Olympic podium bid in Paris 2024 with a sub-20 second race (19.98) to win gold in the 200-meter dash at the French stop of the Diamond League.
“Winning my first Diamond League race makes me feel very happy and proud,” Ogando said after dominating today and beating Ugandan Tarsis Orogot (20.18) and Frenchman Ryan Zeze (20.46).
Ogando was able to achieve first place in the athletics league in his tenth attempt since 2022. Prior to his participation in the Diamond League today, the San Juan de la Maguana native finished fifth at the stop in Oregon, United States, in May.
Ogando trains with two-time Olympic champion Félix Sánchez. “The Olympics are a whole different level and I’m going to give it my all,” said the athlete, who was one of the members of the mixed 4×400 relay team that won a silver medal in Tokyo 2020.
