MIVED and Miderec supervise Olympic Center renovations ahead of 2026 Central American Games

Santo Domingo.- Ministers Carlos Bonilla (Housing) and Kelvin Cruz (Sports) visited the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center to oversee renovation work in preparation for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, which will be hosted in the Dominican Republic. Key facilities under renovation include the Fencing Pavilion, Aquatics Center, Volleyball Pavilions, and two softball stadiums.
The Ministry of Housing (MIVED) confirmed that all upgrades are being carried out according to international standards for high-performance sports. Minister Bonilla emphasized that the work is on schedule and aims not only to meet event requirements but to leave a lasting legacy for the Dominican people.
The 2026 Games will be the 25th edition and mark the event’s 100th anniversary, featuring 40 sports and 56 disciplines, further cementing Santo Domingo’s reputation as a leading regional sports hub.
