Caribbean Queens defeat Serbia 3-2 in Volleyball Nations League

Ottawa, Canada.- The Dominican Republic women’s volleyball team began the 2025 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) with an exciting 3-2 comeback win over Serbia in Ottawa. After dropping the first two sets (26-28, 19-25), the team, led by coach Marcos Kwiek, rallied impressively to win the next three sets (25-15, 25-20, 18-16).
The final set was a nail-biter, with both teams trading points until Gaila González delivered a decisive block on Serbia’s Vanja Bukilic, sealing the victory for the “Queens of the Caribbean” and marking their first win in the tournament.
As part of Group 1, the Dominican team will next face Bulgaria on Thursday. Meanwhile, Serbia will meet Japan on Friday.
