Dominican Women’s Volleyball Team honored in Canada

Canada.- At the end of the first week of the 2025 Volleyball Nations League (VNL), the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Canada honored the Dominican Women’s Volleyball Team, known as “Las Reinas del Caribe,” for their exceptional international performance and long-standing success on the world and Olympic stage.

Ambassador José Blanco presented the recognition on behalf of the Dominican people and government, praising the team’s dedication, sacrifice, and role in establishing themselves as one of the top women’s volleyball teams globally. The ceremony took place at TD Place Arena in Ottawa, with the team, technical staff, and Dominican officials in attendance.

The Dominican team concluded the Canadian phase of the tournament with two wins and two losses and will now head to Turkey for the next round. Ambassador Blanco also emphasized the players’ inspirational impact both on and off the court, presenting a bouquet of flowers to team captain Niverka Marte to share with her teammates as a symbol of national pride and appreciation.
