Renovated fencing Pavilion unveiled in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.- Vice President Raquel Peña and Housing and Buildings Minister Carlos Bonilla officially handed over the newly renovated Fencing Pavilion at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo. This upgrade is part of the Dominican Republic’s preparation for hosting the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
The modernized facility will benefit around 100 high-performance athletes, providing them with state-of-the-art infrastructure that meets international standards. The complex now includes a competition track, warm-up area, VIP box, locker rooms, restrooms (including accessible ones), referee and judge offices, a gym, cafeteria, storage rooms, and updated seating.
With an investment exceeding RD$37 million, upgrades included improved lighting, air conditioning, roof repairs, new plumbing and electrical systems, and a modern scoring screen.
This project joins others already completed, such as the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium and the Archery Pavilion, as part of the country’s broader effort to ensure readiness for the 2026 Games, scheduled for July 24 to August 8.
