Dominican airline Pawa celebrates first Havana flight

Santo Domingo.- Dominican airline Pawa landed Friday at the Jose Marti International Airport in the Cuban capital marking the start of its first Santo Domingo-Havana route.

Dominican ambassador to Cuba Joaquin Geronimo and Pawa corporate affairs director Alexander Barrios, along with Pawa executives and members of the national press, boarded the inaugural flight at 10:00 am yesterday at the Las Americas International Airport.

The diplomat said that the events taking place in Cuba nowadays, following the restoration of diplomatic relations between the United States and the island, point to greater economic activity. "Many tourists see the Dominican Republic as a peer of Cuba in terms of tourism and recreation activities."

The airline has scheduled three flights per week, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
