An 18-year wait is over Santiago has its Central Park

Santiago.- An 18-year wait is over as Santiago’s Central Park will let citizens enjoy quality surroundings, with a natural space designed for fun, health and recreation.

President Danilo Medina on Tues. cut the ribbon for the “Municipal Ecological Park” and created a management board formed by various entities.

The Park on more than 21,000 square meters features an exhibition area, 600 parking lots, a mountain bike track, baseball diamond, soccer field, platform for outdoor exercises, and access gates for vehicles and pedestrians.

Also, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, internal bike path, 4.5 km of perimeter fence, 29 rest kiosks and nine for social activities; 2,400 m2 of remote control car track, two heliports, environmental camp and nursery, 80,000 Creole and Honduran mahogany trees, oak, gri gri, among others, plus a surrounding avenue of 4.5 km of two and four lanes, with 22 entry points for the various neighborhoods.
